General Motors Energy Assist Enhancements for 2020

General Motors has made it pretty clear that they’re committed to an “all-electric future.” The automaker is aware that not only will this entail a full overhaul of their vehicular lineup, but it will require infrastructure upgrades across the country to make driving electric as easy and convenient as (or moreso than) driving with gas.

One way the automaker is helping ease the transition into electric vehicles is by providing Energy Assist, an app that comes standard for all Chevy Bolt owners. This year, GM brought a variety of enhancements to Energy Assist. How has GM improved Energy Assist for 2020?

Access to More than 40,000 Stations

Energy Assist provides Bolt EV owners access to all Bolt EV-compatible charging station locations, regardless of charge point operator. That means users can now view more than 40,000 stations in North America. The program has access to a full 30 percent more DC Fast Chargers than it did in 2019.

Start-to-Charge Compatibility

Users of Energy Assist can link their EVgo account at eligible charging stations to activate and pay for charging sessions right from the myChevrolet mobile app. This helps to streamline the payment process. Eligible stations are noted within the app, and GM is continuing to add more.

Review and Rate

A new feedback feature allows drivers to review and rate charging stations within the myChevrolet app. This means owners can share insights about charging stations by providing star ratings and leaving comments.

How do I get GM Energy Assist?

Those who purchase a new Bolt EV gain access to Energy Assist features in the myChevrolet app at no additional cost for five years after the original vehicle delivery date. It’s available for owners in the U.S., Canada and Mexico.
