Move Those Drumsticks! The Best Turkey Trot Races for this Thanksgiving

As we continue our march toward the holiday season at EVS Auto Group, we can’t help but feel like we’re already getting out of shape. All the candy we’ll eat this weekend, followed by all of the fattening foods in the coming weeks, might take their toll. Fortunately, the season also features a large number of Turkey Trot races, which is a nice way to stave off the effects of Thanksgiving. But where and when are they?
Turkey Trot Races near Milwaukee, WI
Drumstick Dash 5k | Milwaukee | Thursday, November 24th
The best Turkey Trots have some benefit in mind, beyond burning calories for the person running it. The Drumstick Dash 5k, held in and around Miller Park, celebrates its fifth year by donating to Feeding America. Each $1 donated creates three meals, so get involved, everyone!
Festival Foods Turkey Trot | Multiple Locations | Thursday, November 24th
Festival Foods is a Wisconsin staple, so it stands to reason that they put on several races found throughout the state. Each race is held on Thanksgiving morning, and features a 5-mile run, a 2-mile walk, or a 2-mile Dog Jog. Cities that host one of these races include Fond du Lac, Appleton, Janesville and Manitowoc. Milwaukee’s Great Gobble Wobble | Hales Corners | Thursday, November 24th
This one gets bonus points for having the best name in the bunch, of course. However, there’s also a lot to like about this race, with its course that runs through the Boerner Botanical Gardens and Whitnall Park to the southwest of downtown Milwaukee. This race can also be done virtually, which is nice.
Milwaukee Turkey Trot | Milwaukee | Thursday, November 24th
This one gets high marks for a number of reasons, from the fact that it offers both a 5k and 8k course, to the fact that racers are greeted with cinnamon rolls at the finish line, to the outstanding fleece jacket that you get for participating. This is among our favorite races in the city, to be sure.
