Failing to replace your windshield wipers when they need to be can be dangerous for driving as wipers that are not correctly working can leave streaking or hazing which causes poor visibility. Windshield wipers should be replaced every six months to a year or as soon as you begin to notice a difference in driving visibility. Here are some signs that it may be time to replace your wiper blades.  

  • Streaking or hazing
  • A chattering sound when wipers are on
  • The blades are pulling away from the windshield at higher speeds
  • The rubber has split into sections or pulled away
  • The rubber edge looks worn or torn in pieces or the metal arm is bent or cracked

How to Replace Windshield Wipers

If you are interested in replacing your windshield wipers yourself then here are step-by-step instructions on how to install windshield wipers.

  1. Pull the wiper arm until raises and locks in service position Windshield wiper
  2. Locate the clip on the underside of the wiper arm
  3. Press the clip in at the same time you pull the old wiper blade off the wiper arm
  4. Align the new wiper blade with the wiper arm track and slide it along the track until you hear a click
  5. Repeat the process with the other wiper blade
  6. Return the wiper arms to their normal position against the windshield
