Memorial Day 2020 Activities to Celebrate During Quarantine
Time is not abiding by the freeze on normal life that’s taken place across the country, and as such, Memorial Day is approaching on May 25th. Though most workers still have off for the holiday, the usual activities, such as big group barbecues and parades, that would typically fill this unofficial start to summer are not going to be happening this year.
So what are we left to do to celebrate Memorial Day 2020? Read on below for some suggestions from your good friends here at Eric Von Schledorn Automotive.
Alternatively, spend the holiday driving around in a new car!
BBQ with Immediate Family
Despite social distancing rules, we can still chill with our immediate families. If you have a yard and a grill, head outside to do some barbecuing on your day off.
Hopefully the weather’s nice, and, as you’re most likely spending a lot of time in your house these days, getting outdoors should feel good.

Watch a Few War-Themed Movies
Memorial Day is for honoring fallen members of the armed forces, after all, so this year might be a good chance to return to the roots of why this national holiday exists. Spend the day watching some classic war movies available on streaming services, such as Saving Private Ryan or Apocalypse Now.
Of course, these movies tend to be rather dark and violent (considering the subject matter), so be sure your kids are ready to handle it if they’re joining in the viewing.
Go Fishing
Fishing and boating are still allowed during quarantine as long as those doing so practice social distancing and other guidelines. This means keeping six feet between people (besides those you live with), along with the prohibition of group activities and team sports.
So feel free to head out on Lake Michigan, or just up to the shoreline, to spend some relaxing time fishing. Just keep away from those other anglers.
