While picking up your rental car right at the airport is the epitome of convenience, it comes at a price. Airport-based rental agencies often charge up to 20 percent more for the same car. Why? It’s that convenience we mentioned. Customers are willing to pay a little more for extra ease, but if you’re mostly concerned with saving some cash, you should just try to find your way to an off-the-airport dealer.
Go with an economy car 
If you’re going to have a particular car for a week or two, tops, would it really be worthwhile to get something expensive and filled with tons of features? If you’re really into automotive gadgets, maybe. But if you’re really into being fiscally responsible, you will opt for an economy car instead. Go with something that’s inexpensive and good on gas. Some features are important, but expensive and luxurious inclusions aren’t vital.
Search for coupons
Coupons and discounts can be found if you just do a little looking. A quick Google search will give you plenty of coupons for your next rental car. If you can’t find anything applicable, you can also ask the agent about what discounts they can offer. Rental car salespeople love handing out discounts because they help bring back business!
