Make a Map
We know, it sounds like something you won’t have to consider, since you likely know your neighborhood well. Yet, there are things to think about, such as routes that require the least amount of backtracking, areas that have parking and bathrooms, or spots that you intend to avoid. You’ll be happy that you’ve planned your route beforehand.
Plan Costumes for Minimal Clumsiness
One common mistake that parents make is planning a costume that is tough to walk in, or that is extremely uncomfortable to wear. Put a young child in a cumbersome costume, then add a ton of walking, a bunch of sugary candy and potential weather issues? Sounds like a recipe for disaster to us. So, make sure that your kids’ costumers fit well, that they’re in comfortable shoes, and that they can breathe and see okay out of any masks.

Use Flexible Props
While pirates and baseball players are certainly cute, swords and baseball bats can also be used to hurt other kids pretty easily. So, make sure that any props are flexible, so that you lessen the likelihood of anyone being injured.

Wear Reflective Clothing
The sun sets pretty early this time of year, and it’s important that people in cars can easily see you and your trick-or-treaters. So, wear reflective strips on your clothing, and consider taking a flashlight along to help with the darker stretches.
Check Your Candy Before Digging In
Candy pieces might potentially fall out of their wrappers while they’re in your child’s bag, so locate these pieces and throw them away. Also, look for anything that looks like it might have been unwrapped and rewrapped, not that this happens very frequently.
Now that you know exactly where to go and how to stay safe when you get there, you’re all set for your Halloween adventure! Have fun out there, and come see us soon at EVS Auto Group!
