What engine comes under the hood of the 2019 Chevy Equinox?Ā
The answer to that question depends on the trim level for which you opt. The base (L), LS, and LT models all come with a 170-horsepower, 1.5-liter inline four-cylinder engine. The LT, however, can be upgraded to have two different engine options. Drivers can equip a turbocharged, 252-horsepower, 2.0-liter I-4 engine, or a more efficient diesel, 137-horsepower, 1.6-liter I-4 engine. The top-of-the-line Premier trim can also be fitted with any engine listed above. All trims above the base level are available with either front-wheel or all-wheel drive. The Equinox also has a maximum towing capacity of 3,500 lbs. when properly equipped.Ā
